The book examines the severe impact of local councils' failures in Cameroon on the socio-economic development of its citizens, highlighting a potential increase in poverty and suffering. It argues that the perceived myth of socio-economic progress under Cameroonian law stems from inadequate measures and ineffective implementation of decentralization laws. Through theoretical and empirical research, the author identifies various challenges hindering effective governance and financial autonomy, emphasizing the urgent need for reform to improve the situation.
