How to implement Lean successfully in Chinese SMEs

Focusing on the implementation of Lean practices in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the author analyzes critical success factors (CSFs) using data from surveys, interviews, and observations. Key propositions highlight that leadership plays a crucial role in Lean adoption, while LSS technology has less impact. Employee involvement and organizational culture are significant factors, whereas alignment of Lean practices with company strategy is not deemed critical. The performance of the steering office is also identified as influential in the Lean adoption process within SMEs.
