The study investigates how a solid tab at the nozzle exit influences jet development and decay. It reveals that the tab generates counter-rotating vortices, significantly altering flow dynamics. When tested with a convergent nozzle at a pressure ratio of 4, the tabbed jet exhibits a reduced core and a weakened shock structure, leading to faster jet spreading and enhanced mixing. The tab's design promotes inward mass movement into the jet core while expelling core flow outward, demonstrating its effectiveness in improving flow characteristics.
