Exploring the evolving role of genre in contemporary literature, this study delves into how genre shapes both literary and extra-literary worlds. It introduces a new conceptual metaphor that emphasizes the discursive nature of genre practices, challenging traditional views. The analysis then focuses on genre experimentation in three significant works: David Mitchell's 'Cloud Atlas', Salman Rushdie's 'The Ground Beneath Her Feet', and Steven Hall's 'The Raw Shark Texts', showcasing how these authors use familiar genres to offer fresh perspectives on reality.
