Gabriele D'Annunzio stands out as a multifaceted figure of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, renowned for his exceptional talents as a poet, playwright, and novelist. Achieving fame early in life, he became a celebrated lover, particularly noted for his affair with actress Eleonora Duse. A fervent nationalist, he actively participated in Italian causes and, even at the age of 52, took to the skies as an aviator during World War I. His most notable achievement was leading the capture of Fiume in 1919, where he ruled for 15 months.
