Negotiating regional trade agreements in Central Africa

The negotiation processes of regional trade agreements (RTAs) are influenced by various factors, particularly in contexts involving countries with differing development levels. This book examines the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between the EU and Central Africa, utilizing a conceptual framework that integrates theories from multiple social science disciplines. The analysis reveals that power dynamics in such negotiations are shaped by socio-anthropological, economic, political, geographical, and historical factors, encapsulated in five key concepts: strength, dependence, coherence, strategy, and tactics.
