Sophie, a woman who has been nurtured in luxury-in comfort and wealth-struggles, in her own way, through adolescence as she soon becomes aware of the harsh realities of life. She faces and conquers similar life experiences-and appalling losses-with nervous bravery. She meets various men, including the love of her life, Ben, who serve different purposes, suffers various heartbreaks, and leave differing lessons that strengthen her. With Ben, she gets a taste of what it's like to love and to be loved. However, a devastating incident occurred with Ben. Sophie is lost and doesn't know where to begin until she meets Ty, she-somehow-begins to gradually see the positive aspects of life again, but on one September day, a single phone call turns Sophie's world upside down.
