The coachbuiliding era ran from around the beginning of the 20th century, when it evolved from the world of the horse-drawn carriage, to the 1950s. By then, the introduction of integral construction, and the decline in purchasing power of the customers for custom-built cars, ended the tradition. This volume explores the art of coachbuilding. A brief history of the development of coachbuilding is followed by an illustrated alphabetical listing of the most famous coachbuilders and their creations.
