Bailey Brown is navigating her way through eighth grade while coping with an annoying brother, unhappy parents and the typical mean girl and dumb boy antics of middle school. Watching her favorite crime shows on TV with her dad is all the excitement she needs in her life, but one night her world is turned upside down with the appearance of a spectral visitor. Rachel needs Bailey's help in uncovering the truth of her untimely death thirty years ago. With her special 'gift' passed on to her through her late grandmother, Bailey searches for the answers of what really happened in Connor's Coulee that day, not knowing that her quest would take her through the land of the Shadow People.
