Viac o knihe

The art of Nirvana's Kurt Cobain was deeply intertwined with his private life, expressed in a code as intricate as T.S. Eliot's. Charles Cross deciphers this code in a definitive biography, providing an all-access pass to Cobain's heart and mind. The book reveals many secrets through over 400 interviews, including quotes from Cobain's diaries and suicide notes, and even features an unreleased Nirvana masterpiece. It illuminates his creative process, the impact of lies on his life, and the intertwining of his family and love life with his art. For instance, the meaning behind "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is traced back to graffiti by Kathleen Hanna, which was a taunt aimed at Cobain's emotional struggles. Cross presents a complex portrait of Cobain: a sweet, popular teen athlete with a dark side, a compassionate individual who could also be cruel, and a talented yet morbid artist. Cobain's life was marked by contradictions, from his millionaire status to sleeping in cars. Cross dispels numerous myths, including the misconception about Cobain living under a bridge. This biography offers the most comprehensive account of what it was like to be or love Kurt Cobain, surpassing even other notable works on the subject.
