Tidou cannot bring his dog Kafi with him on having to leave his small village in Provence to live in the old quarter of Croix-Rousse in Lyon, and when a band of friends Tidou makes at school helps him bring Kafi to Lyon, the dog disappears the night of his arrival apparently in connection with a grave event in the quarter.
