Set against the backdrop of Pearl, Washington, the narrative intertwines the lives of Raisin, a girl abandoned at birth, and her mother Nola, who seeks to reclaim her. Their story is haunted by family tragedies, including the spirits of Raisin's father and Nola's mother. The plot also follows Sin-Sin, a boy grappling with his identity, and his connection with Blue, a healer who guides him into manhood. Themes of abandonment, trauma, and cultural heritage are explored through the characters' complex histories and relationships.
