Imagining the Self in South Asian and African Literatures

Focusing on the concept of selfhood, this book explores Anglophone literature from British colonies in Africa and the subcontinent, addressing themes of intercultural encounter and globalization. It analyzes works by eight authors across different historical contexts, including Olaudah Equiano and Aravind Adiga, to highlight various strategies of self-representation in autobiographical writing, folk tales, and contemporary narratives. The study incorporates historical, psychological, and postcolonial perspectives, emphasizing the narrative techniques that shape the literary construction of identity amid global influences.
