„Hrabě Monte Cristo“ je jedna z mála klasických knih, u které jsem měla pocit, že bych klidně četla dalších tisíc stran. Příběh Edmonda Dantèse má všechno — zradu, nespravedlnost, útěk, tajemství, obrovské bohatství i geniálně promyšlenou pomstu. A přestože je kniha rozsáhlá, vůbec mi to nevadilo. Naopak. Alexandre Dumas uměl psát tak, že člověk pořád potřebuje vědět, co bude dál. A Monte Cristo je přesně ten typ hrdiny, kterého člověk obdivuje… i když si občas říká, jestli už jeho pomsta nezašla příliš daleko.
