The story follows Peter Cook, a bound boy whose life is upended by the death of his master from the black plague. Cast out from the great house, he encounters Separatists who have distanced themselves from the Church of England. Together, they embark on a perilous journey across the Atlantic Ocean, where Peter forms a friendship with Squanto, a Native American. Their adventure culminates in the celebration of the first Thanksgiving, highlighting themes of friendship, survival, and cultural exchange.
