Focusing on the pivotal role of European Christian democratic parties, this study redefines European integration through the lens of political ideologies and partisan competition. It employs extensive archival research to explore the evolution of political Catholicism from the nineteenth century to the present, highlighting how cross-border collaboration among party elites shaped the foundational policies of the European Union. By examining the historical influence of these parties, it offers significant insights into the transnational history of Europe and the legacy of Christian democracy in contemporary EU governance.
