Murray Leinster, the pseudonym of William Fitzgerald Jenkins, was a prolific American science fiction writer known for his extensive body of work, including over 1,500 short stories and numerous scripts for film and television. Despite dropping out of high school, he launched his writing career before World War I, with his first story appearing in 1916. Leinster's contributions to literature continued throughout the war, during which he served with the Committee of Public Information and the U.S. Army.
