Set during the tumultuous period of the American Revolutionary War, the story follows young Ben Cross as he joins the First Artillery Unit of the Continental Army. His journey takes him through perilous terrain, including the Adirondacks and Berkshires, as he participates in a monumental 600-mile round-trip to transport 73 cannons. Alongside notable figures like Colonel Henry Knox and General George Washington, Ben experiences the hardships and camaraderie of war, highlighting themes of bravery and sacrifice in the fight for independence.
