Set against the backdrop of Minnesota, this ghost story features Ivan Kalinsky, the last surviving Bolshevik from 1917, who escapes Stalin's purges. After his death, he anticipates a joyful reunion with his comrades in the afterlife, but two Hassidic ghosts compel him to aid Joshua Bronstein, a troubled man destined for greatness as one of the Lamed Vav. Kalinsky must guide Bronstein through his struggles, intertwining themes of redemption and legacy as they navigate the complexities of faith and purpose.
