The story follows Jeff and Mike as they embark on a week-long canoeing adventure on the Buffalo River to celebrate their high school graduation. Their plans take an unexpected turn when they are joined by two inexperienced boys from New York City. As a flood traps them, the four boys face numerous challenges that test their survival skills and camaraderie, forcing them to adapt and work together despite their differing backgrounds.
