In the Preface to volume xi, I explained my initial plan to publish this volume alongside volume xii, but technical constraints related to bookbinding necessitated a separate release. The parallel specimens are printed on sheets that require mounting on guards, similar to atlas maps, and each sheet is folded once for convenience. This arrangement, along with separate covers for the specimens, aims to enhance usability. Initially, I intended to print these specimens in polychromy, as mentioned in volume xi. However, this process was abandoned due to its high cost. Instead, I hope that using various types of fonts will not be more confusing than different colors, although the distinctions can be subtle. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Horace Hart, the Controller of the University Press, for his patience and skill in accommodating my requests. About the Publisher: Forgotten Books publishes numerous rare and classic works, utilizing advanced technology to digitally reconstruct texts while preserving their original format and repairing imperfections. While some original flaws may remain in our edition, most are successfully repaired to maintain the integrity of these historical works.
