Lily is a fifteen-year-old girl, growing up in Manhattan in 2035. She suffers from Gutermuth's, a genetic disease which prevents her from leaving the apartment and limits her diet. She is quickly maturing and her secretive mother, April, only denies the budding curiosity. She becomes more rebellious and assertive as her disease progresses while April resists every advance. What is her mother hiding and how will it change Lily?
