After leaving Mr Morley's surgery, Hercule Poirot felt good that he would not have to see his dentist for another six months. Later that afternoon, Morley's body is found, he has been shot, a pistol lay on the floor near his outflung right hand. Later, one of his patients was found dead from a lethal dose of a local anaesthetic. Poirot uncovers a cunning plot strewn with false scents.
