In the 1880s, the farming communities around Fellburn faced financial struggles. Hector Stewart, two years after his wife's death, announced his intention to marry Moira Conelly, a distant relative he claimed was wealthy and lived in a castle in Ireland. Daniel, Hector's younger son, suspected the true motive behind this union. Moira, who misrepresented her background and finances, believed she would enter a life of luxury, complete with servants. Upon her arrival with companion Maggie Ann, she was shocked to find the farm in disrepair and devoid of staff, except for Rosie, the domestic help. Despite this reality, Moira adapted to farm life with her cheerful demeanor.
