Lizzie Nichols is back in New York City, searching for a job, a place to live, and her rightful place in the world. When her summer fling, Luke, suggests living together, Lizzie eagerly abandons her plans to share a one-room apartment with her best friend, Shari, in favor of cohabiting with Luke in his upscale Fifth Avenue apartment. However, her job hunt proves challenging. While Shari lands the perfect job, Lizzie faces a series of humiliating interviews, deemed overqualified for her desired field of vintage-gown rehabilitation and underqualified for other roles. Thankfully, Shari’s boyfriend, Chaz, recommends her for a receptionist position at his father's prestigious law firm, while Lizzie also secures a nonpaying gig at a local wedding-gown shop. Unfortunately, her big mouth quickly gets her into hot water—first at the law firm, where she befriends a society bride with a difficult future mother-in-law, and then at home when she inadvertently raises the topic of marriage with commitment-phobic Luke. Soon, Lizzie finds herself jobless and homeless once again. Can she save herself and the troubled bride while finally achieving career stability and a fulfilling relationship?
