Set against the backdrop of the Redwall universe, the story follows Triss, a courageous squirrelmaid enslaved by the tyrannical King Agarnu and his daughter, Kurna. As she plots her escape by sea, three young friends embark on an adventure from Salamandastron, while two others vanish in Mossflower Woods. Their journeys converge at Redwall Abbey, where Triss uncovers her true destiny and a new hero emerges to wield the legendary sword of Martin the Warrior, igniting the fight for Redwall's future.
