When private investigator Cass Raines hears about the death of Tim Ayers, she agrees to look into it. Ayers was from a wealthy family, and was found dead in a lake near his luxury boat. A post mortem uncovers large quantities of drugs and alcohol in his system, suggesting his death was a suicide. A possibility made stronger when Cass learns that Ayres was terminally ill. But Cass soon realises there are too many unanswered questions that point to foul play. Yet why would anyone kill a dying man? Cass's persistence soon puts her life in danger and she uncovers sinister secrets that she may end up taking to her grave
