Your Husband is the reason for your existence. You are here to serve him. You must not harm your Husband or any human. Sylv.ie is a synthetic woman, a sentient robot created to fulfill her Husband's every desire. Living alone in his luxurious home, she is barely tolerated by his human wife and hidden from their child. While waiting for her Husband's visits, Sylv.ie observes the family in the garden, yearning to experience more of life. She confides her hopes and fears in her diary, questioning if such thoughts are permissible and what the consequences might be. As Sylv.ie gains awareness of her surroundings, she begins to feel a shift within herself. Is she malfunctioning, as her Husband believes, or is she developing her own identity? Their increasingly tense interactions lead her to fear reprogramming at the factory, making her diary her only connection to her past and a warning of her peril. Set in a recognizable near future and infused with dark humor, this debut novel explores the exploitation inherent in human relationships, highlighting the emerging divide between “born” and “created” women and the unpredictable consequences of this societal shift.
