Her return stirs excitement for a gala book signing, but her unconventional ways create chaos at the school, library, and bookshop even before her arrival. On a misty night, tragedy strikes when an American man is found dead outside a local pub. Familiar with the community's history of solving crimes, Daphne urges Janet Marsh and her partners at Yon Bonnie Books to help uncover the truth. Determined to prove her worth, she begins her own investigation, but her meddling leads to her own demise when she is poisoned by scones from the tearoom. Now, Janet and her partners must solve both murders to protect their business's reputation, all while navigating the chaos caused by Daphne's dog, who may hold the key to unraveling the mystery if only they can quiet its howling.
