Thirty years after the discovery of several dozen alternative Earths—worlds where history has unfolded differently than our own—mysterious catastrophes begin to escalate. Unfathomable cosmic forces seize these new worlds, altering them beyond the influence of their inhabitants and rendering their matter unstable. The result is total dissolution. Mysterious destroyer squadrons target the alternative Earths, while marauders traveling between worlds further disrupt the prevailing chaos. The unconventional scientist Faustaff, head of a clandestine organization dedicated to halting the destroyer squadrons, saving the threatened worlds, and uncovering the mysterious force generating the chaos, unexpectedly becomes a pawn of invisible powers. A turbulent chase unfolds from world to world: despite numerous attempts to eliminate him, Faustaff draws ever closer to his goal—encountering a culture of god-like beings who toy with creation itself.
