It's been over two years since Effie's parents divorced, shattering her perception of a happy childhood. Estranged from her father and feuding with his younger girlfriend, Krista, Effie's world is further rocked when Greenoaks, the Victorian house she grew up in, is sold. Krista plans a grand "house cooling" party, and Effie finds herself initially excluded, only to receive a last-minute "anti-invitation" after a joking comment about Krista. Declining the invite, Effie remembers a cherished childhood treasure hidden in the house and decides to break in during the party. As she sneaks around, hiding and eavesdropping, she uncovers not just the secrets of Greenoaks but also new perspectives on her family. Observing her siblings and father in private moments, Effie overhears conversations that challenge her understanding of them. She unexpectedly encounters Joe, her first love who broke her heart, reigniting old feelings and prompting deeper realizations. Throughout the chaotic party, Effie must confront her past and decide whether to remain hidden or step into the open, ultimately seeking clarity about her true intentions for returning to Greenoaks.
