Set against the harsh backdrop of the North West Territories, Lt. Jasper Hobson leads a team from the Hudson's Bay Trading Co. to establish a trading post at Cape Bathurst. Accompanied by adventurous guests, they face unexpected challenges when volcanic activity causes an earthquake and shifts the cape's position, transforming it into an island. As they await winter's onset to escape across the ice to Alaska, they grapple with the uncertainties of survival and the hope that their makeshift boat will lead them to safety.
