The Brothers Grimm, Jacob and Wilhelm, were pivotal figures in preserving German folklore, compiling over two hundred tales from oral traditions into "Nursery and Household Tales" in the early 19th century. Their scholarly approach aimed to document German cultural heritage, though the tales quickly captivated young readers. The first English translation by Edgar Taylor in 1823 further popularized these stories, ensuring their lasting impact on children's literature.
