Mitchell McDeere, a top Harvard Law student from rural Kentucky, has his sights set on a prestigious career. In a separate narrative, Darby Shaw, a law student in New Orleans, finds herself entangled in a deadly conspiracy after preparing a legal brief that inadvertently exposes a political scandal following the assassination of two Supreme Court justices. As she becomes a target, Darby goes underground and teams up with an ambitious reporter to unravel the truth. Together, they navigate a violent cover-up that stretches from Louisiana's bayous to the corridors of power, where someone is determined to eliminate any evidence of a horrific crime.
