Otto is a penguin chick and he lives with lots of other penguins in the ice and snow of Antarctica, at the bottom of the world. But Otto is different from all the other chicks he knows, because he is "first chick," the first penguin born that year so it's his job to look after all the younger ones as they grow up. But nobody has told him what "growing up" means, and life is both confusing and exciting for Otto as he wonders what will happen next!
