Viac o knihe

The sun rose like a giant radioactive manatee as I crouched in a tree, the smell oddly familiar. "We good?" I whispered into the radio, using old tech for this mission. "Cody, you in position?" came the calm Southern drawl. "Sure am." I was perched in a tree stand, a makeshift camp chair thirty feet up an elm, armed with my military-style assault rifle. As a Reckoner, my team and I were dedicated to taking down dangerous super-powered individuals known as Epics. But things had shifted drastically; our leader, Prof, an Epic himself, had vanished with crucial information, leaving us to stop him. Now, we were at Shewbrent Castle, the Knighthawk Foundry, hidden in West Virginia—a place I'd thought existed only in movies. Despite its modern security, the castle bore the marks of a bygone era, covered in lichen and vines. I spotted Abraham in a nearby tree, his dark outfit blending into the morning shadows. Our informant had advised this was the best time to strike. I double-checked that everyone had their mobiles off, and after confirming, I took a deep breath. We were the last Reckoners, and with no sign of Tia, I was reluctantly in charge. As my watch buzzed, signaling it was time to act, I instructed Megan to begin her assault. I aimed my rifle, feeling blind without the mobile tech that could have given me a clearer view of the situation. Now, it was all or nothing.
