It's been over two years since Effie's parents divorced, shattering her perception of a happy childhood. Estranged from her father and embroiled in a feud with his much younger girlfriend, Krista, Effie's world is further upended when Greenoaks, her lifelong home, is sold. Krista plans a grand "house cooling" party, initially leaving Effie off the guest list. After receiving a last-minute "anti-invitation"—possibly due to her joking remark about Krista being a gold-digger—Effie declines. However, she remembers a cherished childhood treasure hidden in the house, prompting her to break in during the festivities. As she stealthily navigates Greenoaks, Effie discovers that the secrets within its walls extend beyond its dusty corners. Observing her family’s behavior when they think no one is watching, she overhears conversations that shift her understanding of them. A chance encounter with Joe, the love of her life who once broke her heart, brings more revelations. Effie must confront her past and decide whether to remain hidden or step into the party to reclaim her place in the family.
